The government is helping to fund gigabit connections for your businessThe Gigabit Voucher Scheme was launched by the government as it aims to provide the UK with faster, more reliable internet speeds. Businesses can get up to £3,000 towards the costs of installing gigabit connections.
How can you get involved?
The scheme is supplier-led; if you are eligible for the gigabit vouchers you can access the scheme through us.
Register for the scheme through us. We’ll request the vouchers from the government. Once the government has checked with you, we’ll deliver the connection. Simple as that.
Here are some FAQs about the Gigabit Voucher Scheme:
Who is eligible
The scheme is only available to small to medium businesses. The government classes this as any business that employs fewer than 250 people and has an annual turnover of less than €50 million, and/or an annual balance sheet total not exceeding €43 million. This includes sole traders. You must also not have received more than the permitted amount of de minimis aid in the last 3 years.
Where is the scheme available?
Initially the scheme was available in six pilot areas: Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire; West Sussex; Coventry and Warwickshire; Bristol, Bath and North East Sommerset; West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester. However, it has now been rolled out UK-wide.
What is a gigabit connection?
A gigabit connection allows for gigabit speeds (1,000 megabits per second). Currently the UK has 95% coverage for superfast broadband with speeds of 24 megabits per second or higher. However, most of these connections depend on cooper wires, which limit the speeds they can support. Gigabit connections use full fibre connections, so are much faster, and provide the same upload and download speeds.
What our clients say about us
“Our telecoms have been looked after by 5 Rings for 10 years and we were very used to working with Guy. It was music to our ears when we heard that all the support staff were cross trained and could deal with any enquiry from any customer, as this was something we'd definitely come up against before with other providers. Now we know that if Guy isn't around, we need not panic as anyone can look up our service package and support us with any Telecoms or IT issue at any time.”
